Tuesday's Child Christmas Gala Ball

One of Ireland’s most successful children’s charities “Tuesday’s Child” invites Cinderellas & Prince Charmings of all ages to come to their first ever Christmas Gala Ball, hosted by The Rt. Hon, The Lord Mayor, Cllr. Patrick Convery, on Saturday 18th December 2010, to raise funds for children living in extreme hardship around the world.

Belfast City Hall at Christmas will provide the fairy tale backdrop for what promises to be a glittering and star-studded event. Dress code is Black-Tie & Glass Slippers are optional…!

The ball begins with a drinks reception at 7 p.m. including Christmas carols by stunning Belfast soprano Louise Irvine, accompanied by the St Malachy’s Senior String Quartet.
Dinner includes four-course Christmas fare with wine.

The Master of Ceremonies for the evening is UTV’s very own Prince Charming, Paul Clark. Entertainer & comedian Sean Crummey provides light-hearted after dinner fun. The enchanting Siobhan Pettit and her fabulous 9-piece Jazz swing band “Nightswing” will provide the musical backdrop for a glamorous night of dancing and craic.

To further boost the funds for deprived children there are some fabulous raffle prizes donated by businesses across Belfast as well as a high profile auction.

Auction prizes include a signed drum skin by Tuesday’s Child’s music patron, Snow Patrol, a signed Ulster rugby shirt, a signed rugby shirt by Irish International Paul O’Connell, a football signed by eight of the Liverpool greats and another unique ball signed by former Northern Ireland football star George Best and overnight stay for two in Dublin’s premier 5 star Merrion Hotel.

Auction lots include some fabulous art pieces donated by Irish artists North and South.

“Christmas is a time for reaching out and for giving. It is a time for opening our hearts and helping those who are less fortunate, says Orla Sheehan, from Tuesday’s Child.

“Most of all, it’s a time for children, and too many children in our world live in extreme hardship due to poverty and injustice.

We’re very proud to have been selected as one of the Lord Mayor’s Charities for 2010-’11, and we hope that our first ever Christmas Gala Ball will be a shining star of hope from our home town of Belfast to many children we have come to know and love across the world, and many more we have still to meet”

All proceeds from the evening will go to children living in extreme hardship in Pakistan, India and Gaza. Tickets are £60 and available online from the charity website at http://www.tuesdayschild.org.uk/ or by phoning 02890502725
